Boutique Event Branding for an Elevated Children's Celebration
A last-minute design request became the foundation for a beautifully cohesive celebration.
Working alongside Signature Designs by Monica, I developed the event's visual identity, including a custom crest, supporting pattern, and printed materials, to establish a refined design language that could be carried throughout the celebration. Inspired by heirloom stationery and boutique children's brands, the branding provided a timeless framework that complemented the incredible work of the planning team and vendor partners.
The result was an event where every printed piece felt connected, allowing the overall experience to feel thoughtful, elegant, and intentionally cohesive.
Project Overview
When Signature Designs by Monica reached out less than a week before the celebration, the brief was intentionally minimal: a sage green palette, subtle stripes, and a custom "J" monogram.
Rather than treating the project as a traditional children's birthday theme, I approached it through the lens of brand identity design.
The goal was to create something that felt enduring rather than seasonal, an identity sophisticated enough to live across every application while remaining playful enough for a young child. A custom floral crest became the foundation of the system, paired with an elegant wordmark and supported by soft sage stripes that functioned as a secondary brand pattern rather than the primary design feature.
This approach allowed every printed piece and installation to feel connected, creating visual consistency across the entire event while giving each vendor a cohesive identity to build upon.
From oversized welcome displays and experiential stations to placemats, signage, and environmental graphics, every element reinforced the same visual language, resulting in an event that felt carefully curated from beginning to end.

The Challenge
Design an elevated children's celebration that feels sophisticated rather than themed… creating a complete visual identity in less than one week that could seamlessly unify more than a dozen independent vendors into one cohesive guest experience.

Design Approach
Instead of asking,
"What theme should this birthday have?"
I asked,
"What if Josey had her own boutique brand?"
That single shift changed the entire creative direction.
The floral crest was designed to feel like something that could appear on luxury children's clothing, fine stationery, or bespoke gift packaging. The typography remained restrained and elegant, while the sage stripes introduced rhythm without overpowering the identity.
Because the branding system was intentionally simple, it adapted effortlessly across every vendor installation. From the drinks bar and dessert stations to the welcome display, balloon installations, and printed signage, allowing the event to feel cohesive without every piece competing for attention.
