Drive By Halloween Birthday | Trunk Or Treat Party
Trunk-or-treating is one of the trends buzzing this year in terms of socially distant trick-or-treat substitutes. An organized event usually held in a school or church parking lot, trunk-or-treating entails decorated vehicles, and kids go trick-or-treating from car to car. You can host this in your neighborhood, too, with neighbors setting up trunk displays in the driveway and passing out candy. Note: Consider having designated adults (who commit to applying hand sanitizer) give out the candy rather than encourage lots of little hands to reach inside the bowl.
I know a lot of parents are wondering: Is it possible to go from this strange land of isolation and social distancing and back to normal by Halloween? The holiday that celebrates wearing masks may not happen this year on account of the pandemic. But Halloween hasn’t ghosted us yet. It’s still on the calendar. Halloween candy is hitting the shelves. Because where there is a will there's a way!
If you’re practicing social distancing and aren’t able to be physically close to your favorite people this year, then there are more than a few ideas for drive-by birthday party ideas that work just as well as a traditional party. The birthday parades involve a stream of cars driving past the person's home to celebrate, meaning everyone can still observe social distancing rules. Drive-bys are becoming a national rage of sorts as people are in their second month of social distancing. Order a big yard sign, set up a tent on the front lawn and through social media and phone calls invite all their friends to cruise by their house for a surprise birthday parade. You might be at home, but you can still have a memorable celebration.
Face Shields for Kids
Face-to-face interaction is key to the education of our children, and we would also like to add that face shields are better than masks for students with learning differences, including autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), because they allow for full visibility of facial expressions that can help them read and understand social cues.
As children get ready to head back to school, there will be many options available in the classroom to keep schools healthy. In particular, face coverings.
For some parents who are concerned with how often their kids mess with their face masks, face shields may be the next best option. With a mask, you may find yourself constantly adjusting it and therefore touching your face, but wearing a shield doesn't really put you in a position where you're touching your face so much, because it's not as cumbersome to wear. That’s why some parents are turning to face shields as an alternative to face masks as they can be a bit more comfortable for kids to wear.
Face shields are a good option for kids because they cover the entire face and make it harder for young people to touch or scratch their nose, mouth, and eyes. Also, if your child wears glasses, a face shield will eliminate the annoying fogging from masks and make it a bit easier to breathe. Plus, just like face masks, face shields come in adorable designs that kids will love.
Face Shields are re-usable, easily disinfected and have a flexible elastic strap for comfort. Made with clear plastic which is easy to keep clean and lightweight to travel with, the shield provides a clear barrier in front of one’s face that doesn’t obstruct vision and allows learners the freedom to interact with their class safely.

Even if you’re the teacher who needs to get into gear for the upcoming year, we have everything you could ever dream of needing!
Early this spring, school gates around the world slammed shut. By early April, an astonishing 1.5 billion young people were staying home as part of broader shutdowns to protect people from the novel coronavirus. Virtual education is often a pale shadow of the real thing and left many parents juggling jobs and childcare. Lower-income children who depend on school meals were going hungry. And there were hints that children were suffering increased abuse, now that school staff could no longer spot and report early signs of it. It was time, a growing chorus said, to bring children back to school.
By early June, more than 20 countries had done just that. (Some others, including Taiwan, Nicaragua, and Sweden, never closed their schools.) It was a vast, uncontrolled experiment. Some schools imposed strict limits on contact between children, while others let them play freely. Some required masks, while others made them optional. Some closed temporarily if just one student was diagnosed with COVID-19; others stayed open even when multiple children or staff were affected, sending only ill people and direct contacts into quarantine.
The scenes hardly resemble typical school: Preschool children instructed to spend recess playing alone inside a chalk square. Eight-year-olds told not to speak to their friends. Middle schoolers reminded to steer clear of classmates when entering or leaving the building. Netherlands cut class sizes in half but didn’t enforce distancing among students under age 12 when they reopened in April. Other schools adopted a “pod” model as a compromise. Denmark, the first country in Europe to reopen schools, assigned children to small groups that could congregate at recess. It also found creative ways to give those groups as much space and fresh air as possible, even teaching classes in a graveyard. Some classes in Belgium met in churches to keep students spread out. Finland has kept normal class sizes, but prevents classes from mixing with one another.
In Denmark, nationwide case numbers continued to decline after day care centers and elementary schools opened on 15 April, and middle and high schools followed in May. In the Netherlands, new cases stayed flat and then dropped after elementary schools opened part-time on 11 May and high schools opened on 2 June. In Finland, Belgium, and Austria, too, officials say they found no evidence of increased spread of the novel coronavirus after schools reopened.
In much of the world, schools that closed in March remain closed through the summer break, and autumn will see a wave of reopenings. In places, ranging from Mexico to Afghanistan to the United States, planning for fall 2020 is underway. In the United States, school districts are releasing a patchwork of plans, which often include hybrid models that alternate distance learning with small in-person classes.
Parents unwilling to homeschool indefinitely will have to get comfortable with managing the risk of COVID-19 at school and in extracurricular activities. What will happen in September remains uncertain, but it is likely to be a hybrid of in-person and distance learning.

Happy Pride Month
Pride Month is a time when people come together to celebrate, honor, and show support for the LGBTQ community and its allies. From parades and concerts to various local events and parties there are loads of ways to join in the festivities.
LGBTQ Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. For several hours police tried to clear the streets while the crowd fought back. Demonstrations and conflicts followed for six days outside the bar, in nearby Christopher Park, and along neighboring streets. At its peak, the crowds included several thousand people—and today, the event is considered the first major protest for the equal rights of LGBTQ+ Americans.
There are several purposes for this commemorative month. It is an opportunity for the community to come together and give praise and recognition to the advances and setbacks that have been made. It provides moments to shed light on the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. It is a time to truly celebrate in a festive, safe, and affirming atmosphere.
Pride is a wonderful time to show support as an ally, express yourself and celebrate every spectrum of our wonderfully diverse society no matter where you land on it. Love trumps hate every time! None of us were born to hate. Pride is a time to remember this, and to rejoice as individuals. So get out there celebrate and show your support!
We wish everyone a safe and happy Pride, and remember: love is love.

One of the overlooked aspects of facial coverings in our opinion is the lack of human connection. With everyone wearing masks we are missing out on much needed facial expressions. Because everyone smiles in the same language!!! Facial emotional expressions are important social cues in everyday interaction. Behavioral data suggest that human facial expressions communicate both the emotional state of the poser and behavioral intentions or action demands to the perceiver. Did you know there are 19 types of smiles? So show off those pearly whites while still using measures to slow the spread. Also those who are hearing impaired will appreciate the ability to still read lips to understand for sure what you are saying.
Here's why plastic shields, which are already a critical piece of protective gear for many hospital workers, may be a better tool than a mask, for venturing out in public:

In reopening, employers will need to be particularly mindful of their obligations under health and safety legislation, including the general duty to take reasonable steps to protect the health and safety of their workers, provide personal protective equipment where required, and provide information to employees about workplace risks, among other things. Health and safety duties will require risks assessment and implementation of controls, prior to returning to work, to protect employees from COVID-19.
This general guidance will apply to most workplaces, but each employer must develop a plan customized for their particular workplace and employees. Employers should review and incorporate into their plans any guidance about safe reopening issued by regulators. Employers with unionized workforces will also need to be mindful of specific obligations in their collective agreements, including any obligation to develop a plan in consultation with union representatives.

Drive-By Birthday Party
Among the many milestone celebrations that have been put on hold or canceled in recent weeks due to shelter-at-home orders, birthday parties seem the saddest of sacrifices. But when there’s a will, families and friends are finding a way. All over the county, birthdays for young and old are being celebrated instead with drive-by caravans of honking, decorated cars. This is hope. This is joy, amidst all the other things that are happening. We have designs available for all ages. Background colors can be changed to any color. Or contact us for a custom order today!
A new social media trend is inspiring people to come together and celebrate birthdays during the coronavirus pandemic. The birthday parades involve a stream of cars driving past the person's home to celebrate, meaning everyone can still observe social distancing rules. Drive-bys are becoming a national rage of sorts as people are in their second month of social distancing. Happy Earth Day
On Earth Day, cities, businesses, and individuals all roll out the green carpet. However, there are lots of easy and fun ways to celebrate Earth Day that can actually make a difference all year long.
Take public transportation, bicycle or walk more. It may take you a little more time but you’ll get to enjoy the fresh air, teach the kids about nature on the way to school, or read a book on the train or bus.
Plant your own food. The easiest way to opt out of our corrupt food system without breaking the bank is to grow it yourself. Maybe it’s just a few basil plants, or maybe it’s an entire garden. Put it on your windowsill, your fire escape, or your kitchen wall. But no matter what, get something growing.
Go solar. Rooftop solar is only one way to turn free solar power into free, renewable electricity. Smaller solar harvesting devices are popping up all over, from pocket-sized phone chargers to portable multi-panel kits.
Enjoy the outdoors. Reconnecting with nature is the best way to remind yourself why we’re fighting so hard to protect it.
Use Earth friendly cleaning products. We all want our homes to be clean and germ-free, but we don’t need to rely on chemicals to achieve that. There are many cost-effective, green-friendly options to choose from.
Reusable shopping bags. There are so many nifty reusable bags that fold up to a teeny tiny size, making earth-friendly shopping easy and convenient.
Start composting. Composting biodegradable food and materials is a great way to feed soil, organisms in the soil and plant life while reducing waste.
Make your home energy efficient. From improving insulation to using LED lights to getting a water heater, improving a house’s energy efficiency both helps the environment and saves you a lot of money in the long-run. Household leaks account for a huge amount of water waste each year. So, if you have any faucet, shower heads, or hoses that leak regularly, fixing them up can make a big difference — and you’ll be productive at the same time.
Use a refillable water bottle. Just because you’re tossing your plastic water bottles into the recycling bin doesn’t mean they're not hurting the environment. Buy a reusable bottle, preferably one that has a filter attached to it, so you’ll be getting fresh water every time.
Make your backyard a wildlife sanctuary. By placing a bird feeder, water, or nuts in your backyard, you can make life a little easier for the little creatures in your neighborhood, whether that be birds, squirrels, or something else altogether.
Don’t just leave it to Earth day! If we can do a myriad of things when we are celebrating Earth Day, imagine just how much more that we could do if we took care of the environment every other day during the year. So, why not look into what can be done through the whole year and make taking care of the environment a regular part of how you live.

Host a Baby Shower by Mail
One of life's happiest occasions is a baby shower! But what if she lives in ________ (and you don't)? You can still celebrate by instilling the spirit of a shower into a thoughtful care package -- a shower (by mail).
1) Send out Invitations
- Note if it's a surprise or not.
- Let guests know the date that gifts need to be mailed to you by.
- Include mailing address for gifts.
- Wrapping specifics.
- Note for guests to keep in mind that all gifts will be mailed together so it's important they buy smaller gifts (if at all possible).
- Registry info.
- Ask guests to RSVP so you know who to expect gifts from.
2) Collect Gifts. As gifts come in keep all of them in one place and take note of who sent what.
3) Receipt Envelope - To make sure the gift receipts are in one place start a receipt envelope which you can include in the Baby Shower package.
4) Wrap and Package up Gifts. Then package them in a large box for shipping.
5) Include a few fun/random items. The expecting mother will really appreciate the extra touches.
6) Ship it.

Easter Wishes & Bunny Kisses
May Easter bring your life color, brightness, joy and, of course, lots of chocolate eggs and bunnies.
Egg hunts are the best part of Easter celebrations. There's candy, outdoor activity, colorful eggs, a little light-hearted competition, and, best of all, prizes. Follow these tips to plan and carry out an exciting Easter tradition.
Pick a location: Make sure to get permission if you are using a community space. Whether the hunt is taking place in your front yard or the grounds of the community center, make sure the location works for your group.
Stock up on eggs: You can hide plastic or real eggs at your Easter egg hunt, just make sure you get the supplies far enough in advance. If you're decorating and hiding real eggs, get a few small prizes to hand out to the children. Fill plastic eggs with small toys, candy, or numbers that correspond to bigger prizes, such as stuffed animals, chocolate bunnies, Easter books, or gift certificates. If you’re not sure about how many eggs to have on hand, we’d suggest about 10 eggs per child, depending on the age group. Have a few extra baskets on hand in case guests forget to bring their own. Most parents don’t need to bring home a dozen plastic eggs, so if you plan to recycle them, provide a goodie bag for each child so they can stash their haul.
Here are some great suggestions for things to put in your eggs that don’t involve candy: Fake coins, Marbles, Stickers, Small toy cars, Dice, Small Tops, Decorative shoelaces, Hair Clips, Beaded safety pin, Beads, Finger puppets, Squeeze ball, Fun coupons, Seashells, Polished rocks, Doll clothes, Crayons, Lip gloss, Erasers, Whistle, Nail polish, Keychain, Jewelry, Pencil grips, Temporary tattoos, Video game memory card, Small action figure, Small notepad, Plastic links, Coin purse, Pedometer, Small plastic animals, Bookmark, Rubber stamps, Makeup, Playdough, Silly Putty, Socks, Bandanna, Earphones, Charms, Lanyard, Small stuffed animal, Mini bottle of bubbles, Body glitter, Superball, Fortune teller, Fidget toy, Wristband, Confetti
Hide the eggs: Before you start hiding anything, count the eggs. (You’ll thank yourself later.) Go easy on the smaller children by leaving eggs on low branches and in open places. Make it more difficult for the older ones. Hard-to-find spots, such as under leaves, in downspouts, in the mailbox, or atop car tires are perfect challenges for older children in your group.
Now ready, set, hunt!
Staying Connected While Self Isolating
Staying in contact with loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic has become even more important with self-isolation requirements and visitor restrictions put in place to help slow the spread. Try connecting old school style via letters and cards (imagine the joy of receiving mail when your friend replies). It preoccupies you writing letters because it can be dull when you're stuck indoors all day. It's connecting with people and finding a common ground. Swap recipes, book recommendations and even create personalised playlists.
It's magical after a stressful day - you can get an email or an Instagram DM - but when you pick up a beautiful handwritten card that someone's written with their heart... and you open it - it's a whole bright lovely moment. It's a little bit of magic posted through your door and it's so beautiful.
Even a window visit or a letter to those in isolation can make a world of a difference. Try to do FaceTime, Skype, phone calls, texting—connect with other people to seek and provide support. Don’t forget to do this for your children as well. Set up virtual playdates with friends daily via FaceTime, Facebook Messenger Kids, Zoom, etc—your kids miss their friends, too!
Missing our loved ones is emotionally difficult, but remember that self-isolation and social distancing are acts of love and care. Taking advantage of different ways to connect can help us feel closer and support each other.
